In reality the figure might be a confession made of its own free will, a reproduction facing us ambiguously as an intentional echo of things
that have come to pass. Where does it draw its powers?
A portrait reclining or suspended curiously preserving, revealing and concealing.
It invests the subject with meanings connected with the viewer.
One where he sees a brother. A long lost lover, a sad friend. Sometimes, he disappears here.
Others, appears totemic promising security within the undulating absence of time.
Beneath the solidity of perception, enters the easy deference of visibility.

The excerpts are from the book "Art and Technique in Cinema" by Giorgos Dizikirikis.
